2/15: “Basics of Blacksmithing” classes (Halifax)

The next two “Basics of Blacksmithing” classes will be offered Saturday January 11, 2020 and February 15, 2020 starting at 9 a.m. This course is designed to introduce blacksmithing tools and techniques. Students will learn shop safety, types of forges, tools, and types of metal. Each student will demonstrate pointing, drawing out, tapering, forging starts and stops, hot cutting, scrolling, twisting, punching, as well as hot chisel work. The students will use their new skills to forge items to take home. Students will develop their own designs. The possibilities are endless!

The “Basics of Blacksmithing” is a prerequisite to the VSTA advanced series of classes including “The Bladesmith”, “Tool Making” and the “Artist Blacksmith”.

The cost is $85 per person. Children under the age of 18 must be supervised by a parent or guardian. Custom dates and times are offered for groups of four or more available upon request.
